The Whittier Wood McKenzie Chest is an heirloom quality piece that’s available finished in Antique Glazed Cherry, Caffe, or Fieldstone. It’s part of the McKenzie Bedroom Collection.

This chest is very large and has 11 drawers. It has two large botttom drawers, four medium size drawers, and a row of three smaller drawers. The full-extension metal ball-bearing drawer slides provide smooth and effortless access.

The McKenzie Chest is made from solid American alder and features old world craftsmanship with such features as English dovetail drawers, mortise and tenon joinery, and fitted backs that ensures structural strength and stability.

Whittier Wood is very conscious about it’s use of wood and the environment. That’s why Whittier uses American red alder wood for it’s furniture. Alder regenerates naturally and grows quickly and prolifically.

Whittier’s Safety Features

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission every 24 minutes a child is injured from tipped furniture and TVs. Whittier Wood Furniture is concerned about the safety of our customers and complies with the American Standards Testing & Materials (ASTM) voluntary tip-over safety standards. We have two systems in place to reduce the risk of furniture tip over.

Our Tipping Restraint makes it very easy to anchor our furniture without putting holes in the wall. A high strength polypropylene strap is attached at the base of designated furniture. The other end of the strap is secured into the bottom plate of the wall or sub-floor sheathing.

Also included in our chests and dressers is an Anti-Tip Drawer Interlock Safety Mechanism for added safety. This safety mechanism allows only one lower drawer or one lower drawer per vertical bank of drawers to open at once.
